Born Felicity Ama Agyemang on August 15, 1977, in Kumasi, Ghana, Nana Ama McBrown’s life story is one of resilience and determination. Her parents, Cecilia Agyenim Boateng and Kwabena Nkrumah, faced challenges, leading to her adoption by her aunt, Madam Betty Obiri Yeboah, and her adopted father, Kofi McBrown. Growing up in Kwadaso, Kumasi, alongside her six siblings, McBrown found stability and care in her aunt’s home.
The Rise to Stardom
McBrown’s acting journey began unexpectedly. Responding to a radio audition call by Miracle Films, she initially joined as a costumer. However, fate had other plans. Director Samuel Nyamekye recognized her talent and cast her in the lead role for the movie “That Day” (2001). This debut marked the beginning of her illustrious career.
Television and Film Success
McBrown’s breakthrough came with the popular television series “Tentacles”. Her captivating performance opened doors, leading to roles in several movies. Notably, her work in the Twi-language films “Asoreba” and “Kumasi Yonko” catapulted her to mainstream success. Audiences admired her versatility and authenticity on screen.

Apart from her acting prowess, McBrown wears other hats. She hosted the cooking show “McBrown Kitchen” and the entertainment talk show “United Showbiz” on UTV. McBrown’s influence extends beyond entertainment. She represents Royal Drinks and So Klin washing powder as their brand ambassador. Additionally, her appointment as an ambassador for the COVID-19 National Trust Fund reflects her commitment to social causes.
